IMPORTANT NOTES:
Burning is allowed from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.

  • Daytime burning of any kind is strictly prohibited, and only allowed by issuance of a special license from the Fire Chief, Paul Schaefer (705) 636-7402 – this includes campfires used for cooking or warmth By-law 2021-27
  • Setting off fireworks and sky lanterns is not allowed in Kearney and is strictly prohibited. See By-Law 2018-24 for more information.


Fire Permits – Required from April 1st to October 31st

The Town of Kearney requires that all property owners and camping visitors obtain a fire permit before proceeding with any outdoor fires regardless of whether you are burning at home, or at a designated campground. Anyone burning without a permit may be subject to fines.

Three day permits can be obtained at the following locations:

Kearney Community Centre

Full-season & special permits can be obtained at the Fire Hall.
